On October 1, L’Oréal Paris brought the spirit of its annual Le Défilé from Paris to Montréal, giving Canadian audiences a local window into one of the beauty house’s most anticipated fashion and beauty experiences.

But beyond the runway, the evening carried a message that went further than fashion and beauty: individuality.

For L’Oréal Paris, beauty is not something to be measured against someone else. It is something to be expressed, experienced and celebrated in different ways.

Speaking with CY Insiders during the Montréal experience, the L’Oréal Paris PR team in Montréal described the event as a celebration of women in all their differences; whether physical, personal or simply in the way each person chooses to express herself.

“The beauty is found in each of us, in different ways,” was at the heart of the message shared during the evening.

That idea of beauty without comparison became one of the defining themes of the experience.

From Paris to Montréal

Le Défilé remains deeply connected to Paris, but bringing the experience to Canada was also a deliberate way for the brand to connect with its local audience.

“If we had an unlimited budget, we would invite everyone to Paris,” the L’Oréal Paris PR representative in Montréal told CY Insiders.

Instead, the brand chose to bring the experience closer to its Canadian community, with screenings taking place in Montréal, Toronto and Vancouver.

For a global beauty brand with strong roots in Paris, the decision to create a local experience reflects the importance of the Canadian market; and of the people who have followed and connected with L’Oréal Paris over the years.

In Montréal, that translated into an evening bringing together the L’Oréal Paris team, creators, media and guests around fashion, beauty and self expression.

Beauty without comparison

There was also something deliberately personal about the message behind the evening.

The goal, according to the L’Oréal Paris team, was not simply to showcase beauty looks or fashion moments, but to encourage people to recognize what they themselves bring to the conversation.

Everyone has a different way of expressing beauty. A different face. A different personality. A different story.

And that difference does not need to be compared.

The evening’s message was ultimately one of confidence and self expression: being proud of who you are and embracing your own identity without feeling the need to fit into someone else’s definition of beauty.

It is a message that feels particularly relevant in an industry where images are constantly placed side by side and where trends can sometimes make individuality feel secondary.

A beauty experience in Montréal

The Montréal event also offered guests an opportunity to experience the world of L’Oréal Paris beyond the screening itself, with beauty products and brand moments throughout the evening.

Among the products highlighted were L’Oréal Paris’ Infaillible range, hair styling and setting products, as well as its iconic lip products, including red lipstick and gloss.

But the products were ultimately part of a larger experience; one built around the relationship between beauty, fashion and personal expression.

And perhaps that is what made the Montréal edition interesting: it did not attempt to recreate Paris. Instead, it brought the spirit of the experience to a Canadian audience, allowing the brand’s message to take on a local dimension.

The takeaway

When asked what she hoped guests would take away from the evening, the L’Oréal Paris PR representative returned to the same idea that had shaped the event from the beginning: celebration rather than comparison.

Everyone can bring something beautiful to fashion, to beauty and to the way we express ourselves; including something that may not necessarily be visible on the outside.

From Paris to Montréal, Le Défilé offered more than a glimpse into the world of L’Oréal Paris.

It was a reminder that beauty does not have to look the same to be celebrated.

Different faces. Different stories. Different ways of expressing ourselves.
Without comparison.
Just beauty, in all its forms, because you’re worth it.
